Chrissy Teigen Breaks Silence, Apologizes For Past Bullying Tweets
In May, Chrissy was exposed via resurfaced tweets where she took it upon herself to bully, harass, and threaten 16-year-old reality star Courtney Stodden, among others.
Since being exposed, Chrissy Teigen posted a lengthy apology on Instagram for her past bullying. Teigen writes, “I know I’ve been quiet and lord knows you don’t want to hear about me, but I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate “sit here and think about what you’ve done.”” Teigen goes onto say that she is in the process of privately reaching out to the people she insulted.
Teigen continued, “I was insecure, immature, and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted.” She says that she took to Twitter aiming to gain attention and show off her “crude, clever, harmless quip,” which at the time she thought was cool and relatable.
Chrissy then writes about how she has evolved and is no longer the same person since becoming a wife, a mother, and receiving the therapy she needed. Life has made her more empathetic. Teigen ends the apology by not asking for forgiveness but only for patience and tolerance as she aims to seek self-improvement and change.
Chrissy Teigen’s apology was lengthy and heartwarming to read, but words mean next to nothing when they aren’t backed up by actions. We can only hope that Chrissy has truly learned her lesson and is committed to bettering herself. As women, we should build each other up, not tear each other down.
It will be interesting to see how the media, celebrity community, and her paid partnerships react to this apology. Will they welcome Chrissy back with open arms or keep her on the outskirts while she continues to evolve and change? Let me know what you think will happen to Chrissy Teigen in the comments.
