Texas Diner Is Charging Ridiculous Fee For Not Wearing Masks
Despite the mask mandate being lifted in Texas earlier this month, this diner is CHARGING $50 to anyone who doesn’t wear a mask.
Legends Diner in Denton, Texas, just north of the metroplex, requires all customers to wear a mask and charges customers $50 if they choose not to do so. I could imagine most don’t spend $50 at a diner anyway.
A sign in front of the diner states their new surcharge, “ $50 if I have to explain why masks are mandatory, $75 if I have to hear why you disagree…”
The owners of Legends Diner, Wayne and Kat LaCombe, say the sign is mostly “tongue-in-cheek” but will be enforced if necessary.
“I just can’t afford to get the virus. We’d have to shut our business down,” said Wayne LaCombe, 41.
The couple plan on getting vaccinated but will be enforcing the mask-wearing policy for their diner since most of their customers are over 60.
They haven’t had to charge any customers as of yet but told Dallas Morning News they came close when two guests went to pay without masks.
“They came in wearing a mask; they had breakfast. … When they came up to pay, they didn’t have their mask on and I had to explain to them why it was important,” LaCombe said.
Apparently, customers can eat their entire meal without masks, but they have to mask up when it comes to paying for it. Something is not computing here…
What are your thoughts about these business owners’ mask policy?
For me, it looks like I won’t be visiting Legends Diner anytime soon. Again, we live in a free country, so it is their choice to decide for their business, but it is my decision where I choose to spend my money.
